KNIGHT Richard of Wiveliscombe passed peacefully away at his home on Friday 14th July 2023. Beloved husband of the late Betty Knight. Funeral service to take place at St. Andrew's Church, Wiveliscombe on Tuesday 1st August at 2pm. No flowers please but donations if desired for the Cats Protection may be sent c/o Anthony James Funeral Director, Broad Meadow View, Wiveliscombe, TA4 2TB. Tel: 01984 624149

I first met Richard 12 years ago when I retired and became a volunteer on the West Somerset Railway, working in the kitchen on the Quantock Belle, of which he was Train Manager. We all loved Richard, he was gentle, kind and hard working, and we all had the greatest of respect for him. His world came apart when Betty died, and his beloved cat became his world, and we often sent him home with titbits left over at the end of the day. I always kept in touch with him after I left, and he was always so pleased when I visited and rang. I will miss you Richard but you are with your beloved Betty again, sleep well my friend and thank you for all the fond memories i have working with you xx
