TAUNTON based boxer Anya Wilson outworked her opponent in the National Junior Championships Final on Sunday to become the national champ.
Representing Blueflames Amateur Boxing Club in Taunton, Anya was the better boxer in all three rounds, consistently catching her opponent with eye catching right hands.
When the final bell went there was no doubt of the result, which rightly went to Anya, giving Blueflames boxing club their first national champion!
Also fighting at the event in Hereford was Shakira Purchase, another Blueflames boxer.
She put on a spirited display, and although losing the first round found more confidence as the bout went on.
The second round was close, and in the third Shakira pushed her opponent all the way to the final bell losing closely on points.
All of the Blueflames boxers will be boxing on their own home show at Wellsprings Leisure centre on November 20.
