If you’ve been considering getting a dog – have you thought about adopting a rescue?
Happy Landings Animal Shelter currently have five tail-waggers looking for their forever home, perhaps one of them will be just the character you’ve been looking for.
The charity owns a five-acre site in Shepton Mallet taking in various types of animals. They can house approximately 300 domestic and farm animals, and re-home around 300 animals per year along with several hundred former battery hens.

Luna
Breed: crossbreed
Age: Approaching two years
Luna is a large dog and requires an adult home, Teenage children will be considered but she cannot live with other pets.
A playful girl with lots of character, she is social with some dogs but needs careful introductions. Excitable dogs wind her up and she prefers to walk with calm dogs.
Her basic training is coming along well at the centre and although she still needs some work she is responding really well.
Luna needs active owners used to large dogs with the time to give to her.

Bear
Breed: Jack Russell
Age: Three years
Bear is a loyal little dog who is nervous around new people. He loves his walks, playing fetch and snuggling with the people he knows and loves.
Due to Bear’s nervousness, he needs adults only who are confident and have experience with dogs.
A quiet home is a must without too many daily visitors.
He is social outside on walks with calmer dogs, but is not used to sharing his home with other dogs or cats.

Caspar
Breed: Lurcher
Age: Seven months
Caspar is a bouncy puppy who is confident and playful with people and other dogs and very energetic.
He is great fun but needs a lot of input at this young age. His new owners need to have dog experience and be willing to train Caspar in all the basics.
Caspar could live with other dogs and older children, but not in a household with small animals or cats.

Hooper
Breed: Cockerpoo
Age: Five months
Hooper is an intelligent boy who would benefit from being rehomed with other dogs to give him guidance.
Suitable for an adult only home with new owners who are experienced with dogs and have the time to continue Hooper’s training, socialisation, and boundary setting.
Hooper does have a sensitive stomach so will need sensitive high-quality food for life.
He is currently in foster care.

Bella
Breed: German Shepherd
Age: Five months
Bella needs a home with experienced owners who understand the breed and what their needs are.
She will need training and staff at the centre recommend she attends training classes for young dogs.
Bella could live with other dogs and would also be considered for being rehomed to a family with children aged 12 years or older, due to her very boisterous energy and puppy mouthing.
