A SOMERSET beauty business owner has been shortlisted in the Best New Talent category by the UK Hair and Beauty Awards. 

Carley Chapman founded her Bridgwater and Taunton-based business, By CarleyJayne, in August last year and has worked on it full-time since July 2022.

After she was confirmed on the shortlist, she wrote on her Facebook page: “Words cannot describe how I am feeling right now!

“Thank you all so so much for supporting me and giving me the confidence to build my business to make it my own.”

She worked in the beauty industry for 10 years before she changed careers to become a caregiver for Home Instead in June 2021 after being furloughed.

After founding her business, she initially worked on it part-time. 

Carley now works one day a week at MANE Somerset in Bridgwater and runs a mobile businesses in and around her hometown, Taunton.

She also offers companionship visits, where she performs beauty treatments and keeps her clients company if they are housebound or need a friendly face.

Alongside her UK Hair and Beauty Awards nomination, Carley has been shortlisted in the Best Newcomer Lash Artist category at the Lash Awards. 

The Lash Awards winners will be announced on Saturday, October 1 at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham.

The UK Hair and Beauty Awards will be held over two days in April 2023. 

The awards celebrate the hair and beauty industry and aim to boost businesses' exposure to help them receive new opportunities.

 Carley works in MANE Somerset (Angel Crescent, Bridgwater) on Wednesdays and is mobile in Taunton and surrounding areas the rest of the week.
