A SOMERSET charity is bringing back its Christmas Tree Collection Scheme after it proved popular last year.

St Margaret's Hospice will collect Christmas trees across several Somerset towns on two dates in January in exchange for a donation.

Money raised from the initiative will help the charity care for patients facing life-limiting illnesses and their families.

A £10 donation could help transport a patient to and from the hospice’s Sunflower Day Care Centre, where it helps them with symptom control and offers advice.

Michelle Hancock, head of fundraising at St Margaret’s, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing our Christmas Tree Collection back for a second year!

“It’s a great opportunity for people across Somerset to dispose of their Christmas trees after the festive season while making a feel-good donation to support their local hospice.

“We were overwhelmed by the amazing support we had from local people and businesses who generously donated their time and vehicles to help us collect Christmas trees at our last Christmas Tree Collection.

“We are looking for more local people and companies to join our Christmas Tree crew next year so if you can spare some time to help out, please get in touch, we’d be very grateful for your support.”
