ST Margaret's Hospice will organise a Himalayan trek in November 2023 to raise money for specialist community nurses in Somerset.

The once-in-lifetime adventure features India's capital Delhi and the beauty of the Indian Himalaya, a largely unvisited region.

Hospice supporters can receive 25 per cent off their registration fee if they book by the end of January 2023 using the discount code NY2023.

Walks will be between 15km and 20km per day in the heart of the world’s highest mountain range in Dharamshala, the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh.

This is where Dalai Lama and the centre of the Tibetan community are located.

Supporters signing up to this event will be asked to raise a minimum sponsorship amount of £3,415.

This money will cover the cost of the trip and raise money for the hospice to help it continue to care for patients across Somerset and their families.

A £1,000 sponsorship could pay for essential equipment needed by the hospice's specialist community nurses to keep them safe and connected.

This could be for a mobile phone for them to contact clinicians, GPs and district nurses or appropriate PPE, medication and equipment to give patients the best possible care.

Ellie Weston, marketing and events officer at St Margaret’s Hospice, said: “We’re so excited to offer supporters the chance to embark on this special fundraising adventure.

“Not only will they experience the beauty of the Himalayas, but they will also be raising vital funds for their local hospice.

“There’s only a few weeks left of our New Year’s sale but if you want to hear more about the trip then come along to our online information evening on Thursday 19 January at 6pm and hear from a previous St Margaret’s trekker.”
