TAUNTON Children's Orchestra gave a fantastic performance of some of the music they have been working on in their weekly rehearsals to a very appreciative audience at the Taunton Festival of the Arts on 2nd February at Temple Methodist Church in Taunton.

The small Orchestra is conducted by Alison Pink and is made up of children from more than 10 local schools. The Orchestra won a trophy for their performance in the large ensemble under 16 years category.

Taunton Children's Orchestra is a small local orchestra for Children up to the age of 16.

They are conducted by Alison Pink a professional musician and instrumental teacher and supported by Belinda Bale who is a local instrumental teacher.

They rehearse weekly at King's Hall School and our (around 20) members come from very many local primary and secondary schools,  more than 10 on our last count.

They rehearse proper orchestral music and give 2 concerts every year as well as taking part in Taunton Festival of the Arts each February.

Taunton Festival of the Arts is a music dance and drama festival run here in Taunton each year and the classes are judged by specially invited professional and knowledgable adjudicators. We entered the class for large ensembles with members under 16 years this year, having won the class last year also, and were thrilled to win the cup again this year. A fitting tribute to how hard our wonderful young members work.

Our conductor Alison Pink says:

"I was so proud of this small group of young musicians who worked together at whatever they’re playing standard, producing a good sound and behaving in such a professional way. I am so lucky to conduct them and have their support."
