TAUNTON Raceourse host their second meeting of the month on Tuesday, February 21 when the first of the action on the card that boasts a very generous prize fund of £68,699 is due off at 2pm, writes Richard Walsh.

The most valuable race of the day is The Weatherby’s Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) run over two miles and half a furlong which has total prize money of £25k on offer and is due to start at 3pm.

This is followed half an hour later by the Martyn Priddle Maiden Hurdle race over the same distance. This race is dedicated to the memory of Martyn Priddle who worked at the course for over 20m years and on racedays helped with the arrangements in the winners enclosure.

The longest race on the card is The Royal Bath and West of England Society Mares’ Handicap Hurdle at 4pm, run over a distance just short of three miles.

Racegoers are reminded that they can take advantage of the very generous discounts on offer by booking tickets in advance on-line before 12 noon on the day prior to racing.

A free courtesy coach service picks up outside Platform Five of Taunton Railway Station 90 minutes before the first race and returns from the course half an hour after the start of the last.

Looking ahead Taunton host Free Raceday on Monday 13th March, the day prior to the start of the Cheltenham Festival, tickets for which must be applied for on-line before Monday 6th March.
