GREAT South West has recently revealed its ambitious plans, that being of the region’s Powerhouse Partnership, will be unveiled at a regional launch event on 29 March in Taunton.

The Great South West is a Pan-Regional Partnership covering the counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset.

It is led by business, and focused on delivering a larger and more productive economy, unlocking the potential of the region’s green and blue economies, and driving investment into the region.

The Great South West Partnership was formally launched at the House of Lords in January, and has received support from the Government as one of the country's 'Powerhouse Partnerships', alongside the Northern Powerhouse, Midlands Engine, and the Western Gateway.

Following its official launch at Parliament, Great South West is holding a series of regional events, to share updates on its emerging ambitions and priorities, and encourage people to get involved with the Partnership’s vision to become the country’s cleanest region.

Karl Tucker, Interim Chair of the Great South West, said: “It was fantastic to get formal recognition from Government for our extraordinary ambitions and the Partnership’s work to realise them so far. Now, we are looking forward to holding these regional launch events to meet with local business leaders, education providers and local Government, as we continue our journey to champion our region and its bright future.”

The first of the regional events will be held on March 29 in Taunton. Local businesses, universities, colleges, and authorities are invited to attend the free event to discuss the next steps for the region’s journey. Further launch events across the region will be announced in due course.
