THE Alison Ray Dance Company are performing The Unknown Soldier at the Tacchi Morris Arts Centre next Tuesday (April 18).
The emotive dance theatre show features live music that reveals the hidden histories of black British servicemen who fought for Britain during the First and Second World Wars.
The show explores personal stories of men and women of black British heritage and 9looks at the part they played in Britain’s successful war effort.
The Unknown Soldier draws upon a variety of dance styles including Lindy Hop, African and Caribbean and contemporary dance, together with song and the live music of the violin and berimbeau to bring the narrative to life.
The Unknown Soldier invites the audience to remember and celebrate the contribution of these men and women whose part in this history is rarely acknowledged and offers a compelling tribute to black British war veterans.
