TAUNTON Deane Swimming Club's successful season draws to a close with five swimmers competing at British Championships this week.

Last year, the Club was ranked 5th in the Club of the Year based on improvements on entry times across every Club competing at the Championships.

This competition represents the top 1% in the country of swimmers in their age groups and is a fantastic achievement for Taunton swimmers.

Taunton Academy student, Reagan Gallagher produced four personal bests to qualify for two finals, taking silver in the 100m Breastroke in the 17 year old age group.

Taunton School students Izzy Blackhurst, Szymon Wyrozumski, Libby Jones and Laura Ann Marshman from Kings Academy all achieved personal bests with Libby being only one a small number of 13 year olds to qualify for the prestigious competition.

Next week the season concludes with English Nationals with Sophie Wood of Kings College and Frankie Hanson of Taunton School joining their peers at national competition.

This caps an amazing season for the club, which saw 33 swimmers swim at South West Summer Regionals and the club win its division of the National Arena Swimming League to secure promotion.

Taunton Deane Swimming Club Chair Frankie White said: "To be producing athletes of this standard and for our Club to reach such achievements at Nationals is amazing and I would like to thank the coaching team and our behind the scene volunteers for their tireless work for all our swimmers at every level."

Taunton Deane Swimming Club is a multidisciplinary swimming club offering swimming from junior level non competitive swimming to elite athletes alongside Waterpolo and Artistic.
