HUNDREDS of people paused to remember our bravest of the brave in a moving ceremony in Taunton town centre earlier this morning (Saturday, November 11).
The town stood still during a two-minute silence in front of the Market House at precisely 11am to honour our war dead.
Brief messages of gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedoms and a prayer were delivered, while the Last Post was played before the solemn act was wrapped up with a recording of the National Anthem.
Shortly before the Remembrance Day event around the Burma Memorial, VIPs processed from Taunton Minster down Hammet Street to the town centre, led by two police officers on horseback to the sound of a bagpipe.
Tomorrow will see a service of Remembrance in the Minster, followed by a procession to Vivary Park, where a further two-minute silence will be observed.
