Yeovil's Leonardo trainees recently brought aviation to life at an Army Flying Museum STEM day.
They helped students from across the Andover area to understand how science powers the skies.
Interactive activities honed students' confidence by giving them hands-on experiences such as wearing a virtual reality helmet to tour a RAF Eurofighter and exploring Search and Rescue exhibits.
Students also designed their own future helicopters and learned about the engineering profession.
Once equipped with aerospace engineering principles, students experienced a Leonardo STEM Trail that showed how engineers' applied knowledge has shaped the aviation history.
Participating schools included Knights Enham, Henry Beaufort and John Hanson.
Attendees asked questions directly to the Leonardo team.
Lucy Johnson from Army Flying Museum said: "It was a delight having the Leonardo trainees leading activities at this year’s STEM Day.
"Their enthusiasm, energy and knowledge created a brilliant day for everyone attending.
"I am quite sure that they have inspired some budding engineers!"
Leonardo STEM team member Joshua Barry said: "The event hosted at the Army Flying Museum was a fantastic experience.
"I immensely enjoyed hosting activities, in particular the Helicopter Design Activity, and I was impressed with all the teams’ designs.
"The AFM was a great location, with a fascinating number of legacy Leonardo vehicles.
"I look forward to attending more outreach events."
