Retirees in Taunton are set to host a Winter Warmer event to raise money for charity and spread friendship.

The event, organised by Churchill Retirement Living at their Riverain Lodge, will fundraise for The Beacon Centre.

Offering respite from the winter chill, the function will provide a warm atmosphere with coffee, cake and conversation for a small donation.

It will take place on February 9, between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

All proceeds will benefit The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital, a vital resource in care and support for local cancer patients.

Caroline Haswell, senior marketing manager for Churchill Retirement Living, said: "We’re looking forward to welcoming people to our Winter Warmer event to raise funds for such a great charity, to help it continue its vital work.

"Every penny counts, which is why we’re asking as many people as possible to come along and support the event and make a donation in return for the refreshments on offer."
