A local charity are on the lookout to recruit more volunteers to help provide support to its service users.
Somerset Sight, a charitable organisation serving the sight impaired community, has a growing waiting list of people desperate for assistance.
However, with 3000 dependents and less than 300 volunteers, it does not have enough support to meet the demand.
Volunteers could join its Volunteers Visiting Service, where they are matched locally with a sight-impaired person.
They will provide companionship to alleviate their loneliness and isolation, along with task assistance.
A spokesperson explained: "Volunteer visitors help with a variety of tasks such as reading, correspondence, or making appointments, going out for a drive or just a cup of tea and a chat."
Many service users describe these visits as "the highlight of their week".
Other services on offer by Somerset Sight include its Mobile Advisory Service, which travels across the region offering advice, information and visual aids for people with sight loss.
