A Somerton and Frome MP has raised their concerns about the impact of flooding caused by Storm Henk.
Liberal Democrat Sarah Dyke tabled a parliamentary motion on January 11, calling on the government to enhance Environment Agency funding.
This was borne out of her worry over the serious toll that flooding has on people's mental health, notably, those who are most vulnerable.
In the Early Day Motion, Ms Dyke shed light on the challenges that those affected by such climate disasters face.
Three days earlier, following a statement on Storm Henk by Robbie Moore, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Sarah Dyke queried if the government would assist communities hit by flooding in crafting tailored extreme weather resilience plans.
She said: "Storm Henk was just the latest catastrophic event to have affected the residents of Somerton and Frome.
"I want the government to increase funding for the Environment Agency and to provide the support needed for local communities in affected areas to create their own extreme weather resilience plans, so that they’re better prepared for the next one."
