A Taunton nursery's outdoor play space has been transformed by students from a local college.

The ambitious project was completed by Bridgwater & Taunton College's (BTC) Education and Early Years students.

Spring Nursery, located at Wellsprings Leisure Centre, saw its outdoor area refurbished despite challenging freezing temperatures.

The students executed precise measurements, research and design for an age-appropriate outdoor play area for children aged 0-5 years.

This entailed a collaborative effort involving the college's carpentry and plumbing departments, integral in transforming the innovative ideas into reality.

The process also encouraged sustainability by repurposing materials generously donated by various departments across the college.

The hands-on learning experience saw students develop essential future skills such as communication, problem-solving, and creativity.

Children and staff's delight upon exploring the new play spaces reflected the project's success.

This initiative was possible thanks to several key contributors including Kelly Griffiths and her plumbing students, Otis Alexander and Andrew Partington and their carpentry students, along with donations from Adrian Downs, Darren Land and Ali Stokes.

BTC expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those involved in this significant community initiative.

The college now invites prospective students interested in teaching or related professions to apply for courses that equip future educators with essential skills and qualifications.
