A TAUNTON School Sixth Form student has received an unconditional offer from one of the UK's most prestigious universities.

Helen, a gap year student hoping for a career in Veterinary Medicine, received the offer from the University of Cambridge.

She also received unconditional offers from two other universities, and a conditional offer from a fourth.

Three other students also received unconditional offers from several universities, five of which are in the Russell Group.

This includes students Shailu who has received offers to study Medicine, and Fabian who has received offers to study Acting, including one unconditional offer to study Acting at the University of Plymouth.

Helen said that she is glad that "all her hard work" has paid off.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted to receive an unconditional offer from the University of Cambridge and that all my hard work at Taunton School Sixth Form has paid off.

"I’m really grateful to all my teachers for helping me get here, not only through the education provided over the last two years, but also with their personal support and encouragement.”

Students at the Somerset-based Sixth Form received more than 295 university offers this year. 99 of these were from Russell Group universities, which are some of the best in the country.

Staff at Taunton School believe this to be a testament of the "quality of teaching" students receive.

Alice MacNair, head of careers at Taunton School, said: “We are delighted that our current Year 13 students have achieved such a wonderful range of university offers, from Medicine, Law, and Ancient History, through to Cyber Security, Tropical Marine Biology, Veterinary Medicine, and Global Sustainable Development.

"The diverse degrees our students have chosen will stand them in excellent stead for their post school pathway.

“On top of this, to receive 99 offers from Russell Group universities is an achievement on its own, let alone receiving more than 295 offers overall from this year's UCAS cohort.

"This is a real testament to the quality of teaching available at Taunton School and the hard work our students have put in, so we should all be very proud.”
