A PUBLIC vote has crowned Wells as the best 'town' in the UK.
Although technically a city, a survey of over 9,000 people found Wells to be the UK's top inland town.
The survey was carried out by consumer watchdog Which?, asking consumers their opinions and thoughts of places they'd visited in the past year.
Wells ranked highly for its architecture, scenery, tourist attractions, shopping and food and drink.
Wells Cathedral tops the list of things to do in the Somerset city, and frequently attracts tourists from across the world.
Other attractions in the city include the Bishop's Palace - home to the Bishop of Bath and Wells, several charming pubs including the Crown Inn which was featured in Hot Fuzz.
Near to the cathedral is Vicar's Close, a scenic road widely regarded to be the oldest residential street in Europe.
Every Wednesday and Saturday the city centre is transformed as the historic market adorns the Market Square with local traders and makers selling their products.
