THE "respected and popular" Wagamama brand could open a restaurant in Clarks Village.

Plans were submitted for a Wagamama restaurant at the Street shopping outlet earlier this month.

The planning document explained that the proposal is looking to install three sets of face-illuminated Wagamama text and logo.

The application, sent to Somerset Council earlier this month, also proposes to supply and fit three projection sign panels.

A previous application sent to the council last year seeks to amalgamate units 29 and 30, previously occupied by Samsonite and Jaeger.

As well as converting the premises into a restaurant, the plans also seek to install associated rooftop plants and replacement shopfronts.

Internally, the proposals include the reconfiguration of the existing mezzanines within both units, along with spill-out areas with external seating beneath the existing external canopies that fringe the building.

A statement from last year’s planning application read: "The proposed operator is Wagamama, a respected and popular restaurant brand specialising in fine Asian cuisine, that will extend the choice of quality dining facilities available to visitors and residents alike, and contribute positively to both the daytime and evening economies."
