A STUDENT at Bridgwater’s Robert Blake Science College won Highly Commended in the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards for overcoming injury.
George Ward was unconscious in hospital in Bristol for 10 days but fought back from the head injuries and fractured shoulder he suffered in the crash.
He transferred to the school a year ago where he has completed his reintegration into the classroom and where he attends the Green Fingers Club – and with some success, getting a gold award at the Cannington Wisteria Festival.
He still has regular and frequent visits to hospital but has kept up with his work.
In his nomination, teachers at Blake said: “He is liked by everyone and has a reputation as a hard worker. He is early to arrive at school every day and is keen to take part. We are very proud of him.”
