AT the weekend, a boxer from Taunton's Blue Flames ABC fought his last bout and went out on a high, securing a unanimous victory.
Simon Heyburn has decided to hang up the gloves at the age of forty after competing in forty bouts in that time.
The boxer from Taunton travelled to Southampton to take on Daz from Crewkerne Boxing Club.
It was a great retirement bout for Heyburn as his opponent was younger and had strength on his side but Heyburn had more experience and it paid, as he took a unanimous win.
Heyburn would like to say a big thank you to the England boxing coaches and referees, the clubs and boxers he’s competed against and finally, the coaches at Blue flames ABC for their time and effort spent on him.
What's next you might ask for Simon Heyburn, he is planning on becoming a coach at Blue Flames ABC and will now share his expertise with the upcoming generation in Taunton.
