AT the weekend Taunton's Blue Flames Amateur Boxing Club held an all female boxing show to highlight the quality in the local area.

It was quite a rare event and a great opportunity for female boxers to get out and box.

The afternoon featured 20 bouts in which 11 featured Blue Flames boxers and the other nine featured boxers from other clubs in the area.

The show started with Jessica and Mya having skills bouts and both girls performed well in these, a great stepping stone before taking scored bouts later on this year.

Lilly took her first bout against a strong taller opponent worked hard & got a great win.

Taylor took on a game opponent from wales she boxed skilfully picking her shots picking up a unanimous win.

Kayleigh boxed an experienced opponent from Weston wasting no time she took the fight to her opponent landing clean powerful shots earning a clear win.

Headlining the show was Charlie boxing a tricky southpaw from Wimborne and she combined her strength & skill out working her opponent at every stage earning a unanimous and bout of the show.

The club said: "A big thank you to the officials, clubs coaches and boxers for attending, the lawns social club, sponsors and everyone involved. We will be holding an all female event again as it was such a success.

"This show was in aid of raising funds to take our female squad to Sweden for the Golden girls cup in February.
