HERE’S how Wellington Under-16s - part of the Somerset County Gazette Youth Football League - lined up 15 years ago.
Pictured from left to right are: back row - John Portt (manager), Craig Lawrence, Aaron Sellick, Iain Blackwood, Dan Hanson, Matt Tooze, Ricky Davey, Curtis Hodgson, Colin Waller (manager); front row - Alex Baird, Chris MacDougall, Warren Pengelly, Luke Bryant, Cam Nott, George Banfield, Guyious Murray.
Elsewhere that week, Wellington AFC’s 1st XI maintained their unbeaten start to 2006 with a 2-0 victory at home to Saltash United at the Playing Field.
Having endured some poor form after Paul West quit as joint manager to join Taunton Town, the team were back on track under Ian Jackson, who had successfully tightened up their defence.
Saltash had more possession but could not create a single clear chance, as Wellington worked hard to frustrate them.
The hosts’ goals came from Greg Jackson, who nodded home after Nick Woon’s shot had been saved, and John Norman, after Jon Crowford’s free-kick was deflected into his path.
