THE Lady Captain’s Mixed Bowmaker took place at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club on Saturday at the end of which it was Marion Mittermaier, Paul Davies, John Snell and Rob Darvell who were the winners with 94.

Two teams returned to the clubhouse with 88 but following count back it was Ian Clare, Mike Robinson, Tony Biggs and Peter Dossett who were second and Robin Herbert, John Foster, Roger Wallbutton and Ian Sutcliffe came third.

Wednesday’s mixed Stableford was won by Jonnie Oliver with 43 points, two better than Tony Reed who was second. Two players tied on 39 points but after count back it was Rob Hutchinson who claimed third and Keith Wiggins was fourth.

The Senior’s Gale Cup that was played on Monday was  a keenly contested affair and at the end of the round it was Robert Pearson with 41 points who was the winner just one ahead of Andy Rhodes who returned with 40, while Jeff Dyke was third on 39.

Four players scored 38 points so once again count back came into play to  sort the paces out after which it was Bill Maginn who was fourth, Phil King was fifth, Martin Hill came sixth and Kevin Scribbins was seventh.

Congratulations to the Pickeridge Bowl Scratch team who triumphed over Burnham and Berrow  3.5 to 1.5 at Minehead and West Somerset GC on Sunday. The victory was sealed by James Rew chipping in on the 17th hole.

This weekend the final open of the season takes place at T&P when they host the PEG Smith  Qualifying Individual Medal over 36 holes on Sunday.

Last week was National Greenkeeper Day and the golf club thanked their team of groundstaff.

"We would like to thank our amazing green staff, and let them know how much we appreciate their hard work keeping our course in such wonderful condition year round."

The groundstaff help to play their part in keeping the course at Taunton & Pickeridge at the high standard it is.

The club is the only private members club in the area and offers an 18 hole course, which is playable all year round.
