DESPITE battling near hurricane conditions, a crowd of over 40 members were treated to some great tennis at the Trull Tennis Club Tournament Finals Day on September 24.

Congratulations to all players for reaching the finals. The results are as follows:

  • Ladies Singles: The title was taken by Mel Bryant (successfully defending her title from last year), who beat Robyn Edwards (6-3, 6-2)
  • Men's Singles: Club coach Jon Warren was narrowly defeated by relative newcomer to the club Reuben Davey (7-6, 2-6, 6-4)
  • Ladies Doubles: Robyn Edwards teamed up with talented junior Ava Julyan and won against Anne Bazley and Mel Bryant (6-4, 6-1)
  • Men’s Doubles: Another epic battle with Chris Kumeta and Ali Mitchell-Innes beating Richard Stock and Pete Belfield  (7-5 5-7 6-4)
  • Mixed Doubles: The mixed doubles title was taken by Ali Mitchell-Innes and Robyn Edwards who beat Anne Bazley and David Hill (7-6, 6-4) 

The Club would like to thank everyone who came to support the players and provided delicious cakes and other goodies to keep everyone going.

Club Captain David Hill said: "It was one of the best finals days I have seen in recent years despite the very tricky weather conditions."
