THE Enmore Park Seniors Past Captains met on Friday for their annual 9 hole competition.

An enjoyable round of golf was followed by a Fish and Chip supper and the presentation of prizes to Mike Perry who scored 22 points, and Roger Anniss who returned with 21 points.

The Lady committee members recently took part in the Monks Salver a stableford competition which was played in good conditions and followed by a delicious meal in the Clubhouse.

Former Somerset cricketer Max Waller won Thursday’s Stableford with 41 points, but only after countback put him ahead of John Phillips who returned with the same score, while John Procter was third with 40.

Simon Duncan with 44 points was the clear winner of the Seniors Wixon Tankard with 44 points, four ahead of second placed Ian Edwards with 40. Bob Read claimed third place but only after countback edged him in front of  Gary Mansfield after both scored 37 points.

The Club has recently re-commenced their highly regarded Enmore Carvery which is served on Sundays costing £15.95 per person.

Over the last few years Enmore Park Golf Club has run a series of courses specifically aimed at introducing people to the game and enabling them to fit into what is a long established and highly successful club situated less than 10 minutes drive from the centre of Bridgwater.

Enmore works hard to tailor the induction process to try to meet the needs of its new members. Everyone receives a welcome email which is followed up by a telephone call from the induction co-ordinators for both men and women.

Another recent recruit is Andrew Kidsley who said: “I feel very fortunate to have found a friendly golf club, I have made new friends who over a short time have become close, and that’s success for me. My golf is improving, and the club professionals have helped me achieve that, I even had my first hole in one in 2022.”

If anyone is interested in finding out more, please contact the Club Manager, Simon Rendle or Head Golf Professional Barry Forster on 01278 672100 or email barryforstergolf@gmail.com
